When Richard was younger and his family was fighting, he would often dream of running away to Switzerland. On a one or two occasions he attempted to leave, he was stopped either by Jim or worse their father.
He never told them where he was going, and he was always punished for lying.
Richard changed his name to ‘Brook’ before attending university. He had always liked the idea of a stage name, and with his twin brother’s line of work he thought it best to put space between them in order to keep a clean reputation.
He chose to change his last name to 'Brook’ due to the rare pleasant memories he has of his childhood where his parents would take him and his brother vacationing in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. There was a series of streams and waterfalls he had loved as a young boy. It was the one place his family didn’t fight.
RICHARD means “brave power”, derived from the Germanic elements ric “power, rule” and hard “brave, hardy”.
BROOK is a surname of Germanic/French origin, that is thought to have been derived from the condition of either residing near a stream (or brook).
